Your First Session

Your first session is a gentle starting point – a space for us to meet and begin getting to know one another. The beginning of counselling can sometimes feel uncertain or even a little difficult, and it often takes time to settle in and feel comfortable. There’s no need to have everything figured out or to know exactly what to say. We’ll simply start where you are, at your own pace.

We’ll talk a little about what’s brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping for, but there’s no expectation to share everything or to go into more than feels right. Many people find that it takes a few sessions before they begin to relax into the process – this is completely natural.

We’ll also take time to go over the practicalities of how we’ll work together – things like confidentiality, boundaries, and what helps you feel safe and supported in the space. My aim is to create an atmosphere of ease and trust, so that over time you can begin to feel more settled and connected. From there, our sessions can unfold naturally, guided by what feels most meaningful and supportive for you.
